Genealogy Research & Project Methodology
There are many types of family history research. Today, the topic is introduced to children as early as Kindergarten. You may have received a framed family crest as a gift. Perhaps you received a phone call or email from a distant cousin who "found you" on the Internet. If you're considering taking a more serious approach to documenting your family history, the skills and experience of a professional researcher are sure to help.
You may already have a collection of notes from a great aunt, a family Bible with helpful clues, or a published book that cuts off a few generations ago. Through an initial discussion (either by phone or in person), we can assess your overall goals together, determine the current situation and materials available, and then map out a plan to achieve your goals. If you've already reviewed my experience, then you know that I'm skilled in both traditional and technology-based research.
This is an important fact because I may help save you from many hours of unnecessary research, stretching your project dollars as far as they can go. I have an extensive collection of books, data-CD's, and web-based content subscriptions. In addition, my memberships and professional contacts help provide access to data that is not always accessible for inspection by the general public.
